I disagree, past is the safest place. It's done, it's unchangeable, it's anything we want it to be, it's perfect!
We can distort memories to be horror stories or fairy tales.

Don´t you just love these scene !!!
"I BELIEVE" that Past will never be a safe place, since as you perfectly typed "We can distort memories to be horror histories or fairy tales", and that´s what we do always, in every moment, in every situation, in fact any circumstance becomes past as soon as we have twisted it.
That is why Past can not be safe, but future is.
Future is just what you want it to be, all you have to do is to build it. Am I wrong?
